On The Box Mission Highlighting our work in the Kibera slum, Nairobi

How we started

On The Box Mission was started by Revd Steve Flashman and his wife Sarah. Trained as a Baptist Minister, Steve spent many years as a singer and evangelist. As founder of Soapbox Expeditions he took teams on practical aid and Christian mission projects to some of the poorest locations on earth. He is now ordained in the Church of England and vicar of two rural parishes in Oxford Diocese. Sarah, who is also ordained, is doing further study at theological college. Following a team visit to Kibera in 2009, On The Box Mission was registered as a charity.

Current activity

At present On The Box Mission is totally focused on supporting the Soweto Baptist Schools and the Crossing to Conquer children’s centre in Kibera.

Our trustees

We have five trustees. Apart from Steve and Sarah Flashman, the other trustees are Tim and Sally Morgan and Jill Riley who are based in Chichester. Tim is the chair of the Trust, and takes the lead with the projects in Kibera. He visits Kibera regularly to see the schools and children’s centre first hand.
